
Dr. Ibrahim Altubasi, PT, MSPT, OCS, PhD is a highly accomplished physical therapist, researcher, educator, and academic leader with extensive expertise in musculoskeletal rehabilitation, aging, and the evaluation and improvement of muscle strength and function in older adults. His combination of advanced clinical experience, academic leadership, and internationally recognized research makes him an invaluable addition to Spine and Orthopedic Solutions.
Before joining Spine and Orthopedic Solutions, Dr. Altubasi served as Head of the Physiotherapy Department and Associate Professor in the School of Rehabilitation Sciences at the University of Jordan. He also served as Vice Dean of Graduate Studies and Assistant Dean for Quality Assurance, reflecting the high level of respect and recognition he earned throughout his academic career.
Dr. Altubasi has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in respected medical and rehabilitation journals and has received multiple research grants from the University of Jordan. His research has focused extensively on the effects of aging on the musculoskeletal system, particularly the impact of aging on quadriceps muscle strength and function and the recovery of patients following total knee arthroplasty. His research has contributed to a greater understanding of how clinicians can improve strength, mobility, and functional outcomes in aging populations.
Dr. Altubasi earned his Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Jordan in 2003. He subsequently completed his Master of Science in Physical Therapy at the University of Pittsburgh in 2006 and his PhD in Rehabilitation Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh in 2012.
During his time in the United States, Dr. Altubasi gained significant clinical experience as a physical therapist in Pennsylvania, including at UPMC Presbyterian and UPMC Montefiore, where he developed extensive experience treating patients with complex musculoskeletal and orthopedic conditions.
In recognition of his advanced knowledge and clinical expertise in orthopedic physical therapy, Dr. Altubasi successfully completed the Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) examination in 2026, earning the OCS designation from the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties. This achievement further demonstrates his commitment to maintaining the highest standards of evidence-based orthopedic care.
