Dr. Zelch

Tim Zelch, DPT, FAAOMPT, Dip MDT, COMT, CMTPT received his BS in Rehabilitation Science and then his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Pittsburgh. His interests are in outpatient orthopedics, in particular spine pathology. In his post-doctoral training, he obtained certifications in McKenzie’s Mechanical Diagnosis and Treatment (Cert MDT), Maitland’s Certified Orthopedic Manual Therapist (COMT), MyoPain’s Certified Myofascial Trigger Point Therapist (CMTPT).  To further his expertise with spine and extremities he completed the McKenzie Institute International Diploma MDT (Dip MDT) program through the University of Dundee Scotland.   Worldwide, there are fewer than 500 Physical Therapists that have accomplished this level of training. Dr. Zelch is one of three in Virginia and the sole provider in Loudoun County. Following four years of post-doctoral didactic and rigorous clinical training, he completed his Fellowship training for the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapist association (FAAOMPT) in 2020.  Less than one percent of Physical Therapists attain this level of advanced Manual Therapy practice.  As a leader in the profession, he organizes and leads monthly study group meetings for Maryland, Virginia, and DC Physical Therapists, Chiropractors, and Physicians.  There they discuss the most recent research, techniques,  and practice patterns.  In 2023 Dr. Zelch became an adjunct faculty professor at the University of Pittsburgh teaching Professional Development and Leadership as well as Musculoskeletal courses.

A native to Pittsburgh, Tim currently lives with his wife and sons in Northern Virginia. They love traveling throughout the USA and the world, and have had the pleasure of residing in six different states (Oregon being a favorite!).  A few of their favorite locations abroad include Scotland, Iceland, Japan, Taiwan, and Croatia. While visiting, they enjoy hiking and experiencing different food and cultures.
